On Feb.24th, our teacher, Erika Bulthuis took my three siblings, my mother, and I on a field trip to our local clinic, the Akisyon A Yesu Presbyterian Clinic. During this trip we were introduced to the different parts of the microscope.
When we walked in the clinic staff were in the middle of the meeting; we sat down and observed for a few minuets. Then Elizabeth (the lab technician) escorted us to the lab. Once we were inside Elizabeth began to tell us the different parts of the microscope and what they are used for. After the introduction we got to see a blood sample Elizabeth had taken earlier that day of patient who had tested negative for malaria.
I am glad we had this opportunity to learn more about microscopes by seeing and using one. I'm also thankful I live so close to a clinic which has good technology to detect different diseases.
